Description of Live Creative Writing Class:
This class is suitable for any student with an inclination towards creative writing in any way. Some students love writing stories, others poems, and yet others like to draw and write manga, and more. No matter their creative persuasion, young writers will find something for them here.
The purpose of this class is to build skills and inspire creativity. Students will be given assignments both enjoyable and challenging to feed and stretch their artistic capacities. I expect them to try new things to shape themselves into well-rounded writers. Just as a professional athlete would train, lift weights, run sprints, etc., so too will our exercises strengthen the students’ writing capacities. Even more than that, I anticipate a great deal of fun and laughter.
This series will involve creative individual and group work, sharing with the class, and coaching from the teacher. We will start with poetry to play with language, build our chops, and experiment with different writing techniques. These will build a foundation for the later work in story writing.
*Note: this is a 12-week class, but the possibility is open to continue the group ongoingly after the 12 weeks.
