Description of Black & White Drawing (Summer 2025):
This class is suitable for students who want to fine tune their drawing skills. We will cover the fundamentals of drawing such as: drawing materials (charcoal, graphite, conte crayon, white chalk), drawing tools, paper surfaces, mark making, value study, lighting, drawing from observation, composition, subject matter and reference living and historical artists.
After spending some weeks establishing the basics of drawing, we will create a series of drawings utilizing skills students have learned.
In the final weeks, we will wrap up what we have learned and discuss ways of developing a more permanent art practice. The goal is that by the end of the 12 weeks, students will feel informed and inspired to keep making art.
